'Mismatch' - National media deliver verdict on Leicester City's Euro heartbreak

Leicester City's dreams of European glory were wrecked by Roma last night as Tammy Abraham's first-half goal sent Jose Mourinho's side to the Europa Conference League final.

Abraham pounced with a header from a corner having climbed above Ricardo Pereira to net his 27th goal of the campaign and seal a 1-0 win on the night and a 2-1 victory on aggregate. Leicester offered little in attack all night amid an intimidating atmosphere although could have had a penalty as early as the third minute when Wesley Fofana appeared to be fouled by Chris Smalling.

But in truth, Leicester were toothless in attack with their first shot on target not arriving until 11 minutes from time as Brendan Rodgers' side were left cursing their weakness from set-pieces that has been a problem all season.

The national media have been giving their verdict on Leicester's performance and here's how the papers saw Leicester's Euro exit.

Kasper Schmeichel chucked his goalkeeping gloves into the crowd, Jamie Vardy his shin pads and, given they are lagging behind in the Premier League, 11th and out of the picture with five games to play, it was hard to escape the feeling that Leicester’s season in effect ended here, to a slender defeat courtesy of an early Tammy Abraham header.
