'Miserably woeful catering...' tennis fans fume amid claims of HOUR-LONG queues for water at AO Arena

Tennis fans were left ‘appalled’ amid claims of 'dreadful organisation' on the opening day of the Davis Cup at the AO Arena.

Thousands of fans flocked to the Arena to see the tournament, which features some of the world’s top players like Novak Djokovic and GB’s Cameron Norrie. The Davis Cup was last hosted in Manchester 29 years ago.

However, the opening day of the event on Wednesday (September 13) was ‘marred’ by ‘miserably woeful catering’, spectators said. Many took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their frustration.

Maureen Stewart Jones said: "What wasn't fantastic was the miserably woeful catering at the AO Arena. Long queues for food which ran out early afternoon. Appalling organisation."

"I queued for 50 minutes and missed a set of tennis to get some water. Never known anything like this," vented Fiona McMurdo.

She added: "The water had to be decanted from a plastic bottle to a plastic cup with lid and straw for 'health and safety reasons' which might be why the queues were so absurd. WTF? Sort it out please."

And Becky said: "Great day of tennis at the Davis Cup marred by dreadful organisation at the AO Arena. No food or water allowed in so had to queue for an hour for overpriced water and sandwiches only to be told no food left!"

"We were told no food left at 1pm, after queuing for an hour. Didn't attempt queuing again in case the same happened when we got to the front!," added Becky, posting as @bitperturbed.
