Taco Town festival described as 'Fyre Island 2' as customers call out long queues and 'lack of tacos'

Customers who attended a taco festival held in Manchester at the weekend have described it as a ‘complete shambles’ with one even comparing it to the ill-fated Fyre Festival.

Taco Town Festival was held at Love Factory Manchester in Cheetham Hill on Saturday (September 23). Organisers said the event would feature more than 30 different types of tacos to try, alongside live entertainment and drinks stalls across four separate arenas.

But those who attended the festival, with timed sessions throughout the day starting at £22 per person, said they felt ‘let down’ by the event after experiencing hour-long queues, flooded toilets, and a ‘lack of tacos’.

Abi Malley, from Stretford, was visiting the 12pm - 5pm afternoon session and turned up with a friend at around 1.30pm. She said they were met with huge queues as soon as they arrived at the venue.

“As soon as we walked in, we could see that the queues were crazy,” Abi told the M.E.N. “It took us about an hour to get to the front of the first queue and it cost us £8 for two tiny tacos.

“We waited in another queue for about an hour and a half and, as we were getting near the front, we could hear that they had run out of tortillas. For £12 they were charging a taco without the tortilla - just for a tray of meat.

“We questioned why they were still going to charge us for £12 without the tortilla and they reduced it down to £10. It was literally just three spoonfuls of meat with a bit of salad on them.”

Abi said the festival’s bar was also charging £7.50 for a spirit and a mixer,
