Millwall boss speaks out on potential permanent Sheffield United deal

Millwall boss Gary Rowett has confirmed he will assess at the end of the season whether he wants to make a deal for Sheffield United forward Oliver Burke a permanent agreement, speaking to News At Den.

The Scotsman has been limited to just nine appearances during his stay in the English capital thus far due to a hamstring injury, but has been able to re-establish himself as a key starter since his return, recording one goal and one assist in his last three league games.

He has already made triple the number of league appearances he was able to record at parent club Sheffield United this term, previously looking as though he would be an important part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s plans after playing in their opening three games of the season but only being used in cup competitions after that.

And his playing time doesn’t look set to improve anytime soon either, with current Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom wanting to tie Billy Sharp down to a new contract and Rhian Brewster and Daniel Jebbison two young, exciting options for the 44-year-old to pick from.

This could potentially open the door for Rowett’s men to swoop in and seal a permanent agreement for the 25-year-old who may want to secure a longer-term move away from Bramall Lane to win more first-team football.

But this isn’t an issue that will be addressed until the summer, according to his current loan side’s manager.
