Millions knocked off value of Grealish and Sancho, while one Premier League star is £20m worse off
The 2021/22 Premier League season was full of twists and turns right up until the final day. And while some players enjoyed their best campaigns, others endured a year of frustration.
The three biggest signings from last summer - Romelu Lukaku, Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho - all failed to hit the ground running at their respective clubs, and have seen their market values slashed as a result.
However, according to Transfermarkt, while the trio were big losers when it came to market value loss, they weren't the biggest. Here, Planet Sport takes a look at which Premier League stars saw their stock plummet in 2021/22.
After scoring just four goals and registering one assist last season, it's Chelsea's Timo Werner who has seen the biggest fall in his market value.
The German forward signed for the Blues for £50million in 2020, but his poor form and inability to adapt to Premier League football has seen him labelled a flop (and worse). His market value has followed suit, dropping from £58.5million last summer to £37.8million, a loss of £20.7million.
Closely following Werner is Manchester United's marquee signing, Jadon Sancho, who has seen his £90million value drop to £72million (£18m loss) after a poor debut season with the Red Devils.
Similarly, Sadio Mane has also took a £18million hit to his market value. The Liverpool forward, who looks to be on his way out at Anfield this summer, headed into the 2021/22 season with a value of £90million. It now sits at £72million.
Jack Grealish was expected to do big things at Manchester City following his £100million move last summer, but he instead saw his playing time limited at the Etihad. Identical to Sancho and Mane, his £90million value on Transfermarkt dipped to £72million.
