Carlos Alcaraz dreams of winning Wimbledon as he hopes to emulate Rafa Nadal and win ‘historic matches’

He has made no secret of the fact that he wants to win Grand Slams and Carlos Alcaraz believes winning Wimbledon this year is “possible”, saying “it’s what I work for every day”.

The 19-year-old Alcaraz is one of the form players on the ATP Tour this year as he has won four titles – including two Masters 1000 titles.

Following his French Open quarter-final exit at the hands of Alexander Zverev, he was set to make his 2022 grass-court debut at the Queen’s Club Championships this week, but an elbow injury forced him out.

However, he is expected to be fit for Wimbledon, which starts on June 27, and he believes he can challenge for the title.

Asked about winning the grass-court Grand Slam, he is quoted as saying by EFE news agency: “Of course I see it possible. In the end, it’s the dream I’m looking for. It’s what I work for every day.”

The teenager, who will be playing in the Wimbledon main draw for only the second time, also hopes to be involved in classic matches like his childhood hero and 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal.
