Mikey Lewis injury latest as Hull KR halfback helped from the field in Challenge Cup victory

Hull KR's passage to the Challenge Cup semi-final came at a cost after livewire playmaker Mikey Lewis was helped from the field. Lewis, who has been a revelation since bursting onto the scene with Rovers last year, suffered an ankle injury in the early stages of the second half and despite trying to continue, he was eventually forced from the field.

After suffering the injury, Lewis' ankle was heavily strapped up in an attempt to help him stay on the field. But as he hobbled to the base of a scrum he shook his head in disapproval towards the bench. After a short period of trying to carry on, he was eventually pulled and assisted from the pitch.

Shortly after being withdrawn, he was seen on crutches as Rovers waited to learn the extent of the injury.

It was the one downer on an otherwise positive night for Rovers as they secured a place in the last four for the first time since 2015. Their victory over Castleford Tigers moved them to within one win of a Challenge Cup final and their second major semi-final in less than 12 months.

Tony Smith was set to provide an injury update on his halfback in the aftermath of the victory. However, he now appears to be a huge doubt for the derby next Friday which would be a huge blow for Rovers ahead of such a pivotal game against their arch-nemesis.
