Mikey Johnston blows 2 Celtic pals away as 'best player on the park' earns hilarious West Brom fan chant

It was the Battle of the Celts in the West Midlands - and there was only one winner as Mikey Johnston came out convincingly on top.

West Brom's 2-0 win over Cardiff had plenty of interest in Glasgow's East End as Johnston, loaned out to the Baggies, made his first start for the club. He was up against two familiar faces, with David Turnbull and Nat Phillips, both of whom joined the Bluebirds in January, also starting. But Johnston took less than 30 seconds to leave his old pals with a bloody nose, sweeping home from a Tom Fellows cross virtually right from kick-off.

West Brom's social media comments descended into a frenzy after the goal, with some punters wanting to sign him permanently ALREADY. Pundit Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, meanwhile, who was watching the game for Sky Sports, described the Celtic loanee as "the best player on the park" during the second half.

Turnbull was subbed off early in the second half and Johnston soon followed, before Alex Mowatt's late goal settled matters. But West Brom fans were very much buying the Johnston hype.

One impressed punter on X noted he was "on it," looking "fit and interested," while another already has a song in mind for him. They wrote: "Hey Mikey you're so fine MIKEY JOHNSTON BLOWS MY MIND Hey Mikey!"
