Mikel Arteta recalls fond Rangers memories as he claims Celtic derby won't faze Gio van Bronckhorst

Mikel Arteta believes Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst knows just what to expect as he prepares to for Sunday's Old Firm clash with Celtic.

The Ibrox club trail their Glasgow rivals by three points in the Premiership title race.

And Arteta, who played for Rangers between 2002 and 2004, knows just what it's like to play in these big occasions.

But he reckons it's the same for his old teammate Van Bronckhorst who has been there and done it on these occasions.

"He knows what he's expecting," Arteta told Sky Sports.

"Winning that derby means everything for the fans for the city. You need to embrace it again. If you win it, it's a great day."

Arteta scored a sublime goal from distance in his first Old Firm match in a 3-3 draw at Celtic Park in 2002.

"It's one of the best memories I have as a football player," Arteta said.

"It's unique, incredible, fascinating, electric. It's a privilege to be on that pitch feeling that atmosphere."
