Mikel Arteta has Jurgen Klopp’s backing in battle with Premier League over fixture scheduling

Mikel Arteta was proud of his side after their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday evening. However, the Spaniard was in a frosty mood for his press conference when asked about what lay ahead in the very near future.

The Premier League rescheduled the originally postponed Liverpool clash and gave Arsenal little recovery before their trip to Aston Villa for the early 12:30 Saturday kick off. Arteta was not happy whatsoever.

After being asked the question regarding the club’s tight schedule, Arteta bit back hard. He went as far as to say that the scheduling had effectively handed an advantage to their top four rivals.

“Thank you so much to the Premier League, to do that and they’ve done it again when we have to play Chelsea and Manchester United, so if they want to give them any advantage, I say to them today, thank you so much for doing that,” said Arteta.

He added when asked if his players would be fit: “Yes, one hundred per cent, don’t worry the players will be there on Saturday with the energy. They will sleep, eat well, but thank you so much to the Premier League for putting the fixtures like this, it’s very, very helpful.”

Ending his tense press conference saying that the club have raised it with the league authorities. He claimed that it simply was not fair on his side.

“Yes, absolutely. Because it’s not fair what they’ve done. It’s always Sky or BT, this or that, but the only one that is affected is Arsenal and the only thing that I care about and what we care about, is Arsenal and for Arsenal, it’s not fair,” Arteta explained.
