Liverpool don't have an advantage over Manchester City this weekend, despite the fact that they could go top of the Premier League for the first time in months.

That is the view of Reds midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who has previewed their home clash with relegation-battlers Watford at lunchtime on Saturday. With City a point ahead of Liverpool in the table, victory would send Jurgen Klopp's side top of the table for the first time since September.

City's game at Burnley kicks off shortly after full time at Anfield, with the chance to immediately reinstate their lead at the top of the table assuming both sides win. However, experienced midfielder Thiago insists Liverpool don't have a boost with the way the fixtures have been scheduled.

Liverpool visit City in the league next week, with both sides playing two-legs of their Champions League quarter finals either side of the Etihad showdown. Then, they meet again at Wembley in an enticing FA Cup semi-final.

Regarding themonth ahead in the wider context, Thiago said: “The other day I was talking with some friends about it and I never had, in the years that I have been involved in football, I never had a month so exciting like this with such important and exciting matches every three days. So it will be amazing.

“Well, it’s not the most exciting month of my career [but] for sure it is exciting because you are competing
