Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has labelled midfielder Mohamed Elneny as one of the “most important players” at the club ahead of the clash with Manchester United on Saturday. It comes after the Egyptian put in an impressive display in midweek against Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has only managed eight Premier League appearances this season, with only two of those coming from the starting lineup. With his contract expiring at the end of the season, it has put his future at the club in doubt.
However, in the face of injuries to the likes of Thomas Partey, Elneny came in from the cold to put in a key performance against Chelsea on Wednesday. His ball-winning ability allowed a deep Arsenal line to defend well and counter the Blues, registering a 4-2 victory.

The Gunners are currently fifth, level on points with north London rivals Tottenham above them, with United just behind in sixth. With Partey set to miss out again, Elneny could be set for another start against the Red Devils on Saturday, with a top four place still firmly up for grabs.
