Midfield star teases transfer decision amid Aston Villa interest as exit confirmed

Boubacar Kamara has officially confirmed that he will be leaving Marseille this summer.

The midfielder is coming to the end of his current contract and has now announced that he will not be signing a new deal with the French club. Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old.

Several other Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the player as well, along with Spanish side Atletico Madrid. And they now know that he will be available as a free agent.

Kamara says he has made a decision on which club he will be joining but did not reveal the name. He said (via Sky Sports): “I’ve made my decision, which is to not renew and to leave OM at the end of this season. I think it’s the best decision for the next part of my career.

“I’m at a point in my career where I want to progress, to discover a new challenge, a new league. I’ve chosen my future club, you’ll find out who it is soon.”

Marseille manager Jorge Sampaoli recently criticised Kamara's "entourage" after becoming resigned to the fact he would be losing one of his prized assets.

Speaking to Le 10 Sport, Sampaoli said: "There are other parameters that come into play, it does not concern the athlete, but rather the entourage.

“He has been very good for us this season, he has played in several positions, he was always very honest, he played from the heart. I respect him. He has progressed a lot. I am happy to see him called up to the France team. He has a lot of talent.
