Michael Owen makes Roma vs Leicester City Europa Conference League semi-final prediction

Leicester City are in European semi-final action tonight as they look to continue to make history in the Europa Conference League.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have become the first City team to reach this stage of a competition, but have a chance of going one better in Rome tonight. With the score locked at 1-1, City travel to take on Jose Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

It’s a game that will be watched by around 70,000 fans with thousands of away supporters making the trip to Italy. The fans making the journey hope that they will be celebrating at the full-time whistle, just as they did against Randers, Rennes and PSV Eindhoven.

However, former Premier League striker Michael Owen doesn’t think that will be the case. Speaking ahead of the game, the pundit believes that not taking the advantage into the second leg could hurt City.

“It was a good game in Leicester, but I worry that Leicester might regret not getting the win,” he told BetVictor. “They dominated the ball, but they didn’t create enough chances against a typically organised Roma defence.

“This will be a tough trip to the Stadio Olimpico for Brendan Rodgers’ side. I’ve got to favour Roma in this one.

“A Jose Mourinho side in a semi-final, I can’t look beyond that. I’m predicting a 2-0 Roma win.”

Mourinho has said that the clash in Rome is a ‘final’. Speaking after the first leg, the Roma boss outlined how the winners of this tie should go on to win the entire competition. City will be hoping that they can prove Owen wrong and book their trip to Albania.
