'Poorly' - Michael Owen makes Wolves prediction for Liverpool clash amid Man City title race

Michael Owen believes Liverpool will be too good for Wolves on Sunday afternoon after their poor end to the Premier League season.

Wolves were on target to secure European football for next season after Bruno Lage 's reign at Molineux got off to a good start. However, one win in eight of their previous fixtures has seen them miss out on a top-seven finish and face dropping down to 10th if results go against them involving Leicester City and Brighton.

The Wanderers face a tough test to get anything from Anfield, a venue where Liverpool haven't been defeated in the league since March 2021. Jurgen Klopp's men are chasing their second Premier League title, whilst also aiming to make it three out of four trophies this season.

Liverpool need a victory themselves and hope Steven Gerrard does his former side a favour in Manchester when Aston Villa travel to the Etihad Stadium to try and stop Manchester City lifting the Premier League title.

Unsurprisingly, former Liverpool forward Owen isn't giving Wolves a chance against Liverpool. In his weekly predictions column for BetVictor, Owen said: "I'm so impressed with the mentality Liverpool have shown in recent week.

"Klopps calls them 'mentality monsters' and they've shown that over the last week, winning the Cup and taking the title race to the final day. All they can do is win their game and see what happens at the Etihad.

"Wolves are another side who are finishing the season poorly. They had a really strong run over the Christmas months, but the form since then hasn't been great.

"I've got to pick Liverpool in this one. I think there's no chance they don't get the way and put some pressure on City. 3-0."
