Michael Morrison confirms Reading FC departure with classy message
Reading FC defender Michael Morrison has confirmed his three-year stay with the club has come to an end.
The 34-year-old, who joined Royals from Birmingham City in 2019, made 113 appearances overall for the club, contributing eight goals and five assists.
The centre-back's contract was up today (Thursday, June 30) and the veteran has announced on social media he will not be prolonging his stay in Berkshire.
"My time @readingfc has now come to an end," he wrote on Instagram. "I look back on my time with immense pride having played over a 100 games and having the honour to captain the club.
"I’ve been lucky to meet some great people and play with some special talent over the last three years. Enjoying a promotion push that ultimately fell short and experienced one of the best away days at Sheffield United. Not forgetting my goal at Bristol #morrodonna
"Thank you for all the support over these last few years, which no doubt had been made harder with covid restrictions and points deductions. Good luck to everyone involved @readingfc in the future.
"Up the ding!"
Morrison, who replaced Liam Moore as Reading's captain over the second half of last season, is the fourth high-profile exit from Royals this summer, joining John Swift, Josh Laurent and Andy Rinomhota in leaving the club.
