Michael Chandler's UFC KO of Tony Ferguson in cage-side footage is brutal

Blockbuster UFC finishes don’t come much bigger than Michael Chandler’s brutal Tony Ferguson KO in UFC 274.

Captured in 4K, cage-side footage showed the sheer brutality of a front kick which was described as “the most vicious” knockout in UFC history.

With Ferguson’s hands by his side, Chandler pounced on an opening through the middle.

The kick landed perfectly, forcing El Cucuy’s neck to jolt before he fell face first onto the canvas.

The crowd screamed, knowing they’d just witnessed one of the most devastating plays in the sport’s history.

Chandler didn’t even wait for the referee to call the fight, celebrating with a series of four backflips, before mounting the cage. He even pushed away a security guard between his third and fourth flips.

The fatal blow came in the second round of the fight, after a positive start from Ferguson in the first.

UFC boss, Dana White, described it as the “most vicious knockout” he’d ever seen.

Understandably, Ferguson was taken to hospital that night where he released a statement congratulating his opponent and promising to come back stronger.

UFC bantamweight fighter, Sean O’Malley, was in attendance at the event in Phoenix, Arizona.

With a prime cage-side view, speaking on his podcast TimboSugarShow, he said: “That front kick was like, dude Tony laid there for like four hours.”

O’Malley admitted the move had him and fellow fighter Cory Sandhagen leaping out of their seats.
