Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand explain why Jonny Evans was perfect Man Utd teammate

Former Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans earned his 100th cap for Northern Ireland on Tuesday night as Ian Baraclough's side lost to Greece in the Nations League.

Northern Ireland fell behind in the 14th minute, but soon levelled proceedings through Shayne Lavery in the 18th minute. However, the away side conceded twice in the second-half to lose the match 3-1.

Leicester City defender Evans captained the side on his 100th appearance for his country, with the 34-year-old having made his debut back in 2006.

Prior to the match on Tuesday, Northern Ireland released a video online of Evans receiving a number of personal messages from current and former teammates, coaches and family and friends congratulating him on his achievement.

Several ex-teammates sent messages to the former Reds defender, including Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand.

Fraizer Campbell said: "Someone that kids look up to, your kids being extremely proud and I am proud to know you."

John O'Shea said: "One of Northern Ireland's best ever players mate, so congratulations and I hope you get plenty more [appearances] after the one hundred. I hope they don't retire you too soon!"

Tom Cleverley said: "A fantastic achievement in what is already a brilliant career."

Rafael da Silva: "It was a pleasure to play with you my friend."
