Michael Beale tells exiting Rangers stars Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent they will miss Ibrox like he did

Michael Beale insists departing Rangers stars Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent can walk out the door at Ibrox with heads held high.

But the Gers boss reckons the pair - who are leading a list of five first-team stars heading for the exit - will come to miss what they’re leaving behind. Morelos - the club’s record European scorer - and £7million signing Kent have been told they are not getting new deals. Veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor, midfielder Scott Arfield and long-term crock Filip Helander will also bid farewell to Ibrox tonight as Beale’s side stage their final home game of the season against Hearts.

It’s been a campaign to forget for the Ibrox faithful, with Champions League humiliation followed by their failed attempt to half Celtic’s Treble charge under Ange Postecoglou. Morelos and Kent in particular have looked nothing like the dynamic duo they once were but Beale insists they have earned the right to walk away proud of their contribution to the Gers cause down the years.

The Ibrox boss - who hopes to unveil his first summer signing on Wednesday - said: “Ryan Kent’s contribution has been fantastic, certainly in big matches in Europe and domestically. This season hasn’t gone the way Ryan would have liked it to but he’s certainly been an excellent player for Rangers.

“And for Alfredo, for the outlay and what we got back, he’s had an outstanding contribution to the club. European top goalscorer and was player of the year last year before suffering an injury. He’s had a stop-start season this year but their contribution has been huge.

“It’s a sad day but I’m sure the fans will show their appreciation. I’ve told both of them if they need help or advice I’m willing to give it to them.
