Michael Beale starts Rangers summer countdown with 'point of change' declaration as he issues ominous player warning

Rangers boss Michael Beale admits the summer window will be a "point of change" at Ibrox following the Viaplay Cup Final defeat to Celtic.

The Ibrox side failed to match their rivals at Hampden as Ange Postrecoglou's side claimed the first silverware of the campaign, while also holding a nine point lead at the top of the table over the Light Blues. Beale will not look to kickstart momentum again when they face Kilmarnock on Saturday with eyes on closing the gap in the league and derailing Celtic's bid for a domestic Treble by winning the Scottish Cup.

However, Beale insists that there will be an overhaul the summer as he warned the players of a major revamp at the end of the campaign. Speaking ahead of the Scottish Premiership showdown with Derek McInnes' side, the Rangers boss said: "There is 12 league games and a cup quarter-final, we still have to improve every game. We have a number of games left to play, the team has made steady progress but not outstanding. We have to keep moving forward, the summer window is very important for the football club.

"In the summer, we are at a point of change. We know we have two more derbies before the end of the season and we are focused on a better showing in these games, we also expect a potential third match in the Scottish Cup.

"We need to reduce the number of the squad and increase the quality. I agree, we need to do some really good work. The last 90 days I've not had many surprises at how big this job is."
