Miami GP: Lewis Hamilton playing down Mercedes chances ahead of weekend
Lewis Hamilton has suggested that Mercedes aren’t likely to make much progress towards the leading cars this weekend at the Miami Grand Prix.
F1 is in the American city for the first time this weekend, and many are excited to see what is going to unfold at the circuit around the Hard Rock stadium.
Certainly, it’s going to be interesting seeing who can go quickest around this brand new circuit, though you would have thought Ferrari and Red Bull may well lead the way again.
And, that said, Hamilton revealed that he does not expect Mercedes to close the gap too much to the pace-setters.
Speaking in the Drivers’ press conference earlier on Friday, he said:
“You can expect that we will be giving it our all and trying our best.
“We’ve done a huge amount of work in the background, you can see we’ve got a new rear wing for example.
“So I’m just grateful for everyone continuing to put their heads down. It’s an amazing amount of hard work people are putting in.
“I don’t anticipate much change [of performance] in that sense.”
