Mfiondu Kabengele extends with Dubai Basketball until 2028
DUBAI: Dubai Basketball has extended the contract of Mfiondu Kabengele until 2028, securing the future of one of the best centers in the EuroLeague.
Already under contract through 2027, the Canadian big man has earned a new extension after an outstanding first season with the club. In his EuroLeague debut campaign, Kabengele averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and a Performance Index Rating of 17.2, quickly establishing himself among the competition’s elite frontcourt players.
He also proved to be one of the team’s most reliable players, appearing in 68 games across all competitions (36 EuroLeague, 30 ABA League and 2 VTB SuperCup), the second-highest total on the team behind McKinley Wright IV (69).
Kabengele delivered several dominant performances throughout the season, recording a career-best PIR of 40 against Crvena Zvezda, scoring 26 points against Fenerbahce and grabbing 14 rebounds versus Olympiacos. His impact on both ends of the floor, combined with his consistency and athleticism, made him one of Dubai Basketball’s key players during the club’s historic first EuroLeague season.
His influence was equally significant in the ABA League, where he averaged 14 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Kabengele was selected to the 2025/26 ABA League Ideal Starting Five and capped off the season by leading Dubai Basketball to its first ABA League title, earning the Finals Most Valuable Player honor. His contract extension ensures the club retains one of the most dominant big men in European basketball as it continues to build for the future.
