American guard Davion Mintz joins Dubai Basketball from Germany’s Wurzburg Baskets

DUBAI: American guard Davion Mintz becomes the latest addition to Dubai Basketball for the 2026-27 season, joining the team from Wurzburg Baskets in Germany on a multi-year deal.

The 1.91-meter 28-year-old arrives in Dubai following a standout season where he averaged 16.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3 assists per game across 31 Basketball Bundesliga appearances. He carried that form into the playoffs, posting 15 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, while also making his mark in the FIBA Champions League with averages of 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 14 games.

A combo guard with a reliable mid-range game and three-point shot, Mintz is comfortable creating his own offense and brings another scoring dimension to Dubai’s backcourt rotation.

Mintz played collegiate basketball for both Creighton University and the University of Kentucky before beginning his professional journey in the US. Following the 2022 NBA Draft, he signed with the Washington Wizards and spent two seasons with Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League.

In 2024, he briefly joined Metros de Santiago in the Dominican Republic before making the move to Europe later that year with Belgian side Filou Oostende. His signed with the Wurzburg Baskets in February 2025, where he established himself as an impactful guard.

Following a title-winning 2025-26 campaign, Dubai Basketball returns to the EuroLeague and ABA League this coming season with ambitions of further establishing itself among Europe’s elite.
