Metrolink services halted following crash
Trams have been stopped on a Metrolink line following a crash in Tameside. No services are currently running between Ashton-under-Lyne and Velopark, in east Manchester, following a collision on the route.
The crash has taken place at Edge Lane stop, in Droylsden. Passengers are advised to use local bus services instead. An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring system said: "No service on Manchester Metrolink between Ashton-under-lyne and Velopark due to accident."
A Bee Network spokesperson wrote on X: "Due to a road traffic collision at Edge Lane tram stop, there is no tram service between Velopark and Ashton. There is ticket acceptance in place on the following bus services: 7, 76, 53, 171, 172, 216, 219, 230 and 231."
Further updates about the incident are yet to be confirmed. Services have now resumed.
