Five men to face court following Trafford Centre car meet
Five men will appear in court next month accused of a string of driving offences following a car meet at the Trafford Centre. Greater Manchester Police has been investigating the incident since it took place on May 30, 2023.
The force has now secured charges against five people who will face court next month. Hanaan Akbar, 22, of St Andrews Road, Cheadle, has been charged with causing a public nuisance, dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice, and making or supplying articles for the use in fraud.
Shabbir Ahmed, 22, of Alders Road, Sharston, Manchester has been charged with six counts of perverting the course of justice. Muhammad Butt, 28, of Whittle Street, Worsley, has been charged with dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.
Adam Shepherd, 29, of Windsor Avenue, Clitheroe, and Lewis Bailey, 22, of Thompson Avenue, Warrington, have also been charged with dangerous driving. All five men have been bailed ahead of appearances at Manchester Magistrates Court next month.
Ahmed, Bailey, Butt and Shepherd will all appear before magistrates on Tuesday, February 18. Akbar will appear in court on Thursday, February 20.
GMP says the arrests form part of a wider operation tackling car meets in the region, with officers finding evidence of vehicles breaching a Public Space Protection Order.
