Met Office verdict on how warm it will be in Greater Manchester this weekend

It's set to be largely dry and warm in Greater Manchester this weekend after a thunderstorm warning was issued by the Met Office.

Much of the UK was hit by heavy downpours on Thursday amid a yellow thunderstorm warning. But forecasters predict that conditions over the weekend will be much finer, with today (Friday) set to be the warmest day.

In our region, temperatures will climb to around 25C this afternoon. Sunny and cloudy spells are expected for much of the day.

Some rain showers may fall at around 7pm, with a few downpours predicted through the night into the early hours. But brighter conditions are then forecast again for Saturday.

Forecasters predict that the mercury will reach highs of around 21C tomorrow in Greater Manchester amid sunny intervals. The best of the sun is expected during the afternoon.

On Sunday, highs of around 22C are forecast. More sunny and cloudy intervals are expected in our region.

On the overall outlook for the North West today, the Met Office said: "Largely dry for much of Friday with sunny spells. Cloud building more widely later with outbreaks of rain arriving into the evening.

"Slightly cooler than Thursday but still warm. Maximum temperature 24C."

On the outlook for Saturday and Sunday for the North West, forecasters said: "Any rain soon clearing to leave a largely fine and bright day with sunny spells. Feeling fresher than of late with light winds.

"Maximum temperature 22C. Largely dry with bright or sunny spells on Sunday."
