Roy Keane has given Manchester United transfer warning that Ten Hag would agree with

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has already warned Manchester United and Erik ten Hag of where they need to bolster this summer transfer window.

Time is ticking down until United officially kick off the new regime under the Dutchman against Brighton on August 7. Pre-season, which must be taken with a pinch of salt, has been impressive since the former Ajax boss took charge with three wins out of four.

From the moment he stepped foot into Carrington, Ten Hag has been pragmatic in his approach. Nobody needs reminding of the torrid campaign last time out under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, and Ten Hag has set about a rebuild this summer.

The chaotic world of football transfers prompted panic from some fans as United waited until July 5 to announce their first signing — left-back Tyrell Malacia. They then had to wait just another week before Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez became the second and third signings respectively of the Ten Hag era.

However, with the signings that have entered the fray so far, they have failed to meet the expectations of the former United skipper. "Off the top of my head, it's the midfield, the middle of the park, where they need some top quality players in there," Keane told the SkyBet's Start of Season debate reflecting on what the Reds need to do to address most this summer.

"They need some physicality and some energy. That's where I'd start," he added.

So far the signings have failed to match the profile wanted by the ex United skipper, with Eriksen not fitting the mould of a physical and energetic midfielder. United made to wait and fret over the signing of Frenkie de Jong, Ten Hag's top midfield target.
