Mediterranean destination a £25 flight from Manchester Airport has lots of autumn sun
Summer is starting to feel like a distant dream now and even the warm weather we had at the start of the month is fading from our memories. If you’re starting to feel blue at the prospect of darker nights and colder days, then a holiday to a sunnier destination is just the ticket to cheer you up.
A trip away doesn’t have to break the bank either - an important thing to consider especially with Christmas just round the corner. With daytime highs of 21C in October, Marseille in the south of France is the perfect place to head to for some autumn sunshine.
Ryanair offers direct flights from Manchester to Marseille in early October starting from around £26 , with returns available for a similar cost. The flight takes just over two hours, so can be easily done for a long weekend away.

Located on France’s Mediterranean coast, Marseille is a city-break and seaside holiday rolled into one. Often overlooked by its more glamorous neighbours Nice and Cannes, Marseille is a port city rich in culture and history.
Marseille is the oldest city in France, founded by Greek settlers. It’s also France’s third most populated city, after Paris and Lyon.
The city is centred around the port, which has welcomed visitors for centuries. There’s the original Vieux Port, lined with bars and cafes and where you can spot fishing boats, yachts and tourist boats, while there’s also the modern commercial docks.
As France’s oldest city, Marseille is bursting with historical places to visit. Overlooking the city from its highest point -
