McLaren fans will love Emerson Fittipaldi's prediction for MCL36's performance

McLaren fans are going to be enjoying the sound of Emerson Fittipaldi’s prediction for the team, with the former Formula 1 world champion suggesting that the car is going to get better and better and after Monaco they could be ‘extremely competitive.’

McLaren have perhaps made the most progress of all the teams from their starting point at the beginning of the season in Bahrain.

From seeing both cars finishing outside of the points, the team has worked hard to turn things around and that was underlined by Lando Norris earning a podium spot at Imola last weekend.

They appear candidates to be considered the third quickest car on the grid all of a sudden, then, and former world champion Fittipaldi believes that they’re only going to get better and better with each race:

“I think McLaren will be more and more competitive at every new Grand Prix,” he said to Vegas Insider.

“I would say after Monaco, they should be extremely competitive. This is my personal opinion.

“McLaren started on the third row of cars (at Imola). That means they’re good, they’re fast and they’re consistent cars.”

Up next for McLaren and the rest of the F1 circus is the Miami Grand Prix next weekend, which takes place for the very first time.

It’ll be interesting to see who the track suits most of all, and McLaren will hope they can keep the ball rolling in terms of the progress that they are making.
