McDonald's making major change to iconic jingle to honour Queen's Jubilee

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend, McDonald’s has made some big changes to their menu, packaging and tagline to celebrate. And the first you might notice will be on their radio and TV ads.

McDonald’s has teamed up with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to re-create its iconic jingle and make it fit for a queen, re-recording the iconic ‘Five Note String’ or the ‘ba da ba ba ba’ you hear at the end of their adverts.

A 35-strong ensemble featuring brass, strings, percussion, and woodwind recorded a regal version of the brand’s iconic sound, which will replace the original in the brand’s TV and radio ads over the course of the Jubilee weekend, switching the tagline to “one’s lovin’ it”.

But that’s not all, McDonald’s is also giving customers the chance to dine like a royal over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. The brand has reimagined the Big Mac, fries and milkshake packaging that customers know and love as an elegant china set, adding Platinum Jubilee Pageant detailing to mark the occasion.

There are 70 of the limited-edition sets up for grabs and all McDonald’s fans have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to enter the competition via the McDonald’s App between May 31 and June 6, with the lucky winners being crowned on June 8.

The final part of the Jubilee celebrations will see McDonald’s change the name of an iconic burger for the duration of the weekend. On Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, the famous Quarter Pounder with Cheese will become the ‘Royale with Cheese’, paying homage to the infamous scene from Pulp Fiction and giving the burger a royal makeover.
