Mazzarri to coach Osimhen at Napoli

Walter Mazzarri is set to become the new manager of Victor Osimhen at Napoli who will reportedly sack Rudi Garcia very soon.

This is according to a statement issued on Tuesday by Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on X.

“Walter Mazzarri, new Napoli head coach. Agreement sealed and valid until June 2024.”

He added that the former Inter Milan and Watford manager has signed the contract and is set to be unveiled as Napoli’s new coach today as he replaces Garcia.

Napoli had reportedly advanced in talks with Igor Tudor before negotiations went on stand-by after speaking to Mazzarri.

Romano added that Napoli offered Tudor an eight-month contract which he rejected with the journalist saying that he never said yes despite reports.

He also said that there were no financial issues but Tudor who is a former coach of Olympique Marseille just prefers long-term projects.

Garcia, meanwhile, moved closer to earning a sack at Napoli following the club’s 1-0 Serie A defeat to Empoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.
