Mayweather vs Canelo: Slow-mo footage from 2013 fight shows 'Money' really did school him
Saul Canelo Alvarez is one of the hottest names in boxing right now.
The Mexican hitman has dominated across a number of weight classes and doesn’t look like slowing down
Canelo has simply overwhelmed opponent after opponent in his relentless charge to the top of the fight game.
With an astonishing record of 57-1-2, 37 of those win coming via knockout, Canelo is truly one of the greats.
However, that ‘1’ on his fight sheet is something that will haunt him for the rest of his career after he was taken to school by none other than Floyd Mayweather.
The pair met in a monster fight way back in 2014 as they both laid their undefeated records on the line.
Canelo was but a young superstar at the time, stepping into the ring with one of the greatest the game has ever known.
The gulf in experience showed as Mayweather battered Canelo from pillar to post, eventually winning out by majority decision after a 12-round marathon.
Highlights are readily accessible but not many would have seen some of the bigger moments in slow-motion which perfectly highlight Mayweather’s ruthless precision.
Footage has been doing the round on Twitter including some super slow moments that show just how good Mayweather was on the night.
You can see some of those replays in the 0:40 mark in the clip below:
