"Maybe Liverpool believe…" - Insider drops intriguing Salah future claim at Anfield

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield if he fails to sign a new contract by the end of the season and the Reds could now see him as a replaceable asset, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Salah has been a revelation since heading to Merseyside in a £34million deal from Roma in 2017, chalking up more than 150 goals and getting his hands on an abundance of trophies, but there are serious question marks over where his long-term future lies.

Salah is currently Liverpool’s joint-second highest paid player, with his contract being worth £200,000-per-week, but the agreement is due to expire next summer.

The Reds have been desperate for Salah to commit his long-term future to the club but, according to the Mirror, boss Jurgen Klopp will not talk to the attacker and his agent amid the contract stand-off.

It comes after Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s representative, appeared to mock the German by heading onto social media to post seven laughing emojis following a press conference where Klopp had spoken about his client’s negotiations with the Anfield club.

Klopp had revealed Salah is expecting Liverpool to be ambitious but the Premier League title chasers have done everything they can to persuade him to put pen-to-paper, resulting in the 80-cap Egypt international having the final decision on whether to accept the offer on the table.

Meanwhile, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested the 29-year-old is not desperate to move onto pastures new in the summer and, instead, could leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract if a new deal is not agreed.
