Liverpool: 'Promising' update emerges on Salah's Anfield future

Things are now looking more “promising” for Liverpool in their bid to tie Mohamed Salah down to a new contract, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old will be a free agent next year, but it looks like he could be finally set to sign a new deal at Anfield.

According to the Daily Mirror, Salah is close to agreeing a new contract that will see him remain at Liverpool for the rest of his career.

The same outlet claims that Salah had previously rejected an offer worth £400,000 a week, with the Egyptian forward instead demanding a £500,000-a-week wage packet.

However, it now looks like a compromise will be made in a huge boost to manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

Salah is enjoying another stellar season in red as he closes in on the 30-goal mark, so he is not the sort of player the Merseyside outfit can afford to lose.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that he also understands that things are now moving in the right direction for Liverpool in their mission to keep hold of their star man.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “I think that he’s starting to realise that the grass might not be greener elsewhere so, as it stands right now, things are definitely looking more promising for Liverpool on this front than they have been at any point in recent times.”

If he does go on to sign this new contract, it does seem like a real possibility, with the Egypt international revealing in October that he loves the idea of retiring at Anfield.
