'May not be at their best' - PSV boss raises Leicester City 'woes'

PSV manager Roger Schmidt says Leicester City are a "top team" ahead of their Europa Conference League quarter-final clash this evening (8pm kick-off).

The sides' meeting at the King Power Stadium will be the first time the teams have met. The Dutch side will head to the encounter on the back of a 3-3 draw with Twente in the Eredivisie at the weekend - unbeaten in their last seven league games.

While PSV may have advanced past Danish outfit Copenhagen with an impressive scoreline of 8-4 (on aggregate) in the round of 16, Schmidt is aware of the opposition he is up against. "Leicester are a top team in the Premier League, one of the best leagues in the world", Schmidt said in his pre-match press-conference.

"They have had their share of injury woes lately and may not be at their best form, but we expect a tough game against strong opponents. Leicester City have won the FA Cup, only last season. Each game is different. The only thing we can do is prepare ourselves in the best way."

The 55-year-old boss believes that his side can come away with a positive result at Leicester. "We can make the difference with a tactical approach," Schmidt added.

"We have learnt a few lessons from the past few games we played. We have put on some great displays this season and I trust we will be able to rise to the occasion. But we must not make sloppy mistakes. We have a number of skilful players and feel confident ahead of Thursday’s massive game."
