It's the early May bank holiday on Monday which means a three-day weekend for millions of people across the country.

However, it also means that opening hours for shops and supermarkets will be different than usual. So if you need to stock up on food and drink, or even do your weekly big shop it's important to know when they will be closing.

It is also worth remembering that this is not the only bank holiday this month. Spring bank holiday is on May 26 which means opening hours will again not be normal Monday times.

Here are the opening times for Aldi, ASDA, Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose on the bank holiday of Monday, May 6.

Aldi's opening hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday remain unchanged.

The budget supermarket's opening hours on Monday, May 6 will be 8am to 8pm. However, the retailer says opening hours may vary depending on store location.

ASDA stores across the UK will be open as normal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, May 6, the majority of Asda stores will be opening 8am to 8pm - although some may open earlier and stay open later.

Tesco stores across the UK will maintain their regular opening hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Monday, most of Tesco's larger outlets will be open from 8am to 6pm, with some potentially staying open until 8pm. The opening hours for Express stores may differ.
