Max Verstappen talks unfinished Baku business and Sergio Perez's contract extension

Max Verstappen has said that he has got unfinished business at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend.

The Dutchman leads the Drivers’ standings by nine points with Charles Leclerc in second place, whilst Sergio Perez is in third just another six points back.

Indeed, both Red Bull men are in decent form with Perez winning the Monaco Grand Prix last time out, whilst Max had won three on the spin in Imola, Miami and Spain.

At Baku, though, things have been a little less auspicious for him, with him crashing out last year from the lead in the final laps thanks to a tyre blowout.

Indeed, he’s admitted that he has some ‘unfinished business’ in Azerbaijan after that unfortunate twist:

“I’m looking forward to returning to Baku, we have some unfinished business there after last year.

“It’s a tricky track with big braking zones and a tight run off, finding the best set up for the car will be difficult in terms of making sure we get the correct wing level.

“It will also be interesting to see if we can make our one lap performance better for qualifying as we’ve been lacking a little.”

Perez, of course, would take victory that day and the Mexican looks in good form at the moment, with him signing a new contract in the time since Monaco.

Max is pleased about that as well, with him saying:

It’s great that Checo has signed a contract extension with the Team, it’s nice to have the continuity and I get on really well with him.”

Red Bull are looking strong at the moment, then, and they’ll be eager to try and keep that momentum going this weekend in Azerbaijan.
