Mauricio Pochettino 'interviewed' for Manchester United post and other rumours

Manchester United are said to have interviewed PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino over the permanent position at Old Trafford, according to reports.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag held interviews with the Reds last week and impressed officials, becoming the preferred candidate - the Manchester Evening News understands. Further to this, the MEN reported that United were planning further talks with the Eredivisie winner.

The two apparent frontrunners for the job have led their clubs to the summit of their leagues - Ajax came from behind to beat rivals Feyenoord prior to the international break while the Parisians sit comfortably top of Ligue 1, despite their recent blip.

Metro reports that the former Spurs tactician has been sat down ahead of a potential appointment in the summer. The Argentine was heavily linked with the post in light of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking but the French outfit played to force United into appointing Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis.

Pochettino has been linked with the hot seat in the past but was pipped to the position twice, firstly by Jose Mourinho in 2016 and then Ole Gunnar Solskajer two years later.

Meanwhile, Lazio star Sergej Milkinovic-Savic is reportedly on the radar of the Reds. Italian outlet Il Tempo have reported that both United and PSG are ready to splash out on the Serbian.

Further to the report, a €70m (£58m) price tag has been slapped on the 27-year-old's head. The Reds are looking to bolster their midfield ranks after already identifying the areas as one of the problems.
