Matt O'Riley names 'refreshing' Celtic tweak by Brendan Rodgers as he drops dressing room tactic used by Ange

Matt O'Riley admits it's a '"refreshing" change of pace to be working under Brendan Rodgers as he put last season's Treble success in the history books.

The Dane will hope to play a central role under Rodgers next season as he aims for another trophy haul after Ange Postecoglou won the domestic lot before leaving for Tottenham Hotspur. And the Aussie was famous for keeping his distance from the squad, a trait he picked up as a coach in Japan and as manager of the Socceroos. Yet O'Riley has already hailed the atmosphere at Lennoxtown since the Irishman's arrival and the hands-on approach he takes as boss.

Rodgers won seven trophies out of seven in Glasgow in his first stint but wants a real crack at Champions League football this time around. Celtic have lost top star Jota to Saudi Arabia but have Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio among their ranks. For O'Riley, his season came in waves last campaign but he believes the key message from Rodgers on resigning the Treble triumph to the history books is the way forward.

On working with Rodgers, the 22-year-old told Celtic TV: "So far it's been amazing. Everyone seems quite upbeat and he brings that in terms of how he goes about things.

"He's not reluctant to come and sit with us at lunch, have a chat which is quite nice. It's a nice, refreshing change in a sense to have a bit more openness about the place. I'm looking forward to that.

"It was an amazing achievement. It has sunk it but Brendan has come in already and basically told us that's done now isn't it. It's there, it's in the history books but at the same time we have another season to do it again."
