"Massively exciting" - Journalist teases big-money Spurs move for "spectacular" £58m star

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez would be a “massively exciting” signing for Tottenham, claims Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Argentine was a reported target for the north London club last summer and is still thought to be on their shortlist.

According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Tottenham are one outfit who are interested in signing Martinez in the upcoming transfer window.

They claim that the 24-year-old will be allowed to leave the San Siro, with Inter ready to ask for up to €70m (£58m) for their star man.

Last August, The Times reported that Tottenham had actually agreed a £60m deal with Inter to bring Martinez to Hotspur Way, but it was not a transfer that they were able to get over the line in the end.

Martinez is having another strong season, with the Argentina international recently reaching the 15-goal landmark in Serie A after registering against Spezia last week.

All in all, it is not a shock that Tottenham want Martinez so badly, and Brown believes his addition would be a very exciting one.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star reporter said: “That’d be a massively exciting signing, but it would cost Spurs a lot of money. I just think if they’re to spend a huge amount this summer, it’s clearly going to be on a striker because they were willing to spend quite big in January to bring one in.”

Tottenham are not going to get a free run at Martinez, which is hardly a surprise given the calibre of player the Inter star is.
