'Massive low' - Gary Neville makes Marcus Rashford admission after Manchester United omission

Former club captain Gary Neville believes Marcus Rashford is currently experiencing a "massive low" in his Manchester United career.

Neville made the admission after the England international was left out of the starting line-up for Saturday's teatime clash with Leicester City at Old Trafford. Although both Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani missed out through illness and injury, respectively, to leave United light on attacking options, Rashford was left out of the starting line-up.

Instead, United interim boss Ralf Rangnick deployed Bruno Fernandes in the false-nine role, leaving Rashford on the bench. The German adopted the same approach against Manchester City last month when Ronaldo and Cavani were both absent once again.

Rashford's latest omission from the starting line-up means that he has failed to start five of United's last six Premier League matches. He was also left out of the starting line-up for the 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League prior to the international break.

Considering United entered the contest in desperate need of a victory to bridge the gap on the top-four, Neville questioned the decision by Rangnick. He also compared Rashford's situation with that of team-mate Harry Maguire.

Neville told Sky Sports : "It is the same players that played against Manchester City where we saw Pogba and Fernandes up front in that 4-2-2-2. It is a staggering situation.
