'Mass brawl involving '70 to 100' people broke out outside Manchester club during under-16s event, police say
A mass brawl involving '70 to 100' people - which left a teenager with a fractured jaw - broke out outside a Manchester club during an under-16s event, police have said.
The incident, on May 27, happened at Cargo Manchester in the Printworks, according to GMP.
Officers said that at around 8.50pm, 'GMP received a 999 call from a male that stated he had been contacted by his son who told him he is at Cargo and a group of people have threatened to stab him and his friends, and that the group were now outside the premises waiting for them to leave and were putting on balaclavas'.

Around 15 minutes later, CCTV showed '30 to 40 people fighting outside the premises', GMP papers submitted to the town hall say. Shortly after, police arrived at the Withy Grove venue, 'by which time a large group had starburst from the location and a mass brawl was ongoing'.
There was also fighting 'inside the Printworks’ at 9.07pm, cops said. By 9.09pm, an officer reported that 'there were 70 to 100 youths involved in the melee that was ongoing'.
'Public order dispersal tactics to get the large crowd of children and young persons to disperse' were then used. By 9.30pm, 'the group had been dispersed and people involved were moving away from the area'.
Following the incident, the father of one of the victims told the Manchester Evening News one of the teenagers set upon was left with a broken jaw in the violent attack. He claimed: "One of the men punched my son's friend twice in the face, breaking his jaw.
