Mason Mount names his best position and reveals what he will bring to Manchester United

Mason Mount has outlined the qualities he will add to the Manchester United squad after finalising his move from Chelsea.

Following several weeks of negotiations, United announced the signing of Mount on Wednesday morning, confirming that he had joined the club on a long-term contract. He put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the option of an additional year.

United reached a breakthrough in negotiations with Chelsea last Thursday, agreeing to pay £55million up front with a potential £5m in add-ons. Manager Erik ten Hag had long since identified the England international as his ideal candidate to strengthen the Reds' midfield options.

Mount adds a wealth of quality and experience, despite only being 24, to Ten Hag's squad and will be hoping to hit the ground running by becoming a regular starter. He is widely expected to replace Christian Eriksen in the Dutchman's strongest three-man midfield.

Despite widely being considered an attacking midfielder, Mount has insisted that he is at his best in the No.8 berth, capable of operating between both boxes, helping out both defensively and offensively.

"I've always seen myself as a midfielder or a No.8 that can obviously get forward, attack, try and score goals and create goals," Mount told MUTV. "But I am also able to do the other side as well and defend and help the team when we're under pressure.

"That is obviously a massive focus of mine, being able to come here and help the boys in that situation and I know what I can bring to this team. Now it is about going and doing it on the pitch
