Mason Mount handed iconic Manchester United squad number after completing transfer

Manchester United have announced that Mason Mount will wear the iconic No.7 shirt at Old Trafford.

The Reds unveiled Mount as their first signing of the summer transfer window on Wednesday morning, less than a week after agreeing a £60million deal with Chelsea for his signature. The England international has put pen to paper on an initial five-year deal in M16.

The England international, who was identified as Erik ten Hag's first-choice target to strengthen the Reds' midfield options several weeks ago, is expected to slot straight into United's strongest midfield. He is widely expected to join forces with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the engine room.

Mount, 24, has been awarded the No.7 shirt at United. The iconic shirt number, most recently worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, was originally expected to be taken by Alejandro Garnacho.
