Mason Greenwood 'makes Manchester United transfer decision' as Feyenoord talent urged to join Erik ten Hag

Mason Greenwood is reportedly hoping to make his switch to Getafe permanent next summer.

Manchester United chiefs shipped the 22-year-old out on loan following an internal investigation. Charges against Greenwood for attempted rape, assault and coercive control - which he denied - were dropped in February but the club opted against bringing him back into the fold.

A move abroad appeared inevitable as the forward looked to rebuild his career away from the English spotlight. Last weekend, Greenwood scored his first goal for Getafe in a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo.

The Sun are now reporting that he is “loving” life in Spain and plans to make the switch permanent. Just over 18 months remain on his current United contract, meaning Getafe could sign him for a cut-price fee.

Elsewhere, a former Feyenoord star has urged Argentine sensation Santiago Gimenez to join United. The 22-year-old has bagged 35 goals in 54 games for the Dutch giants since arriving last year.

Former Feyenoord star Willem van Hanegem has told Dutch outlet Feyenoord Nieuws that Gimenez should consider a move to Old Trafford. Real Madrid have also been linked to the forward as they aim to regain their Champions League dominance.

“He has the qualities to play at the absolute top, in England or Spain,” he said. ”It would be great if he plays for Real Madrid or Manchester United.

“He will only remain at Feyenoord for the time being. Everyone likes him very much. He doesn’t get nervous when he misses an opportunity.”
