Martinez posts picture with Torreira and shows off games room

Aston Villa travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon and Emi Martinez is expected to start between the sticks, but it appears he’s using his downtime to hang out with football friends and play games if his Instagram stories are anything to go by.

The 29-year-old posted a picture with Lucas Torreira who played with Martinez at Arsenal, though the pair didn’t spend a lot of time on the pitch together. It’s clear they’re good friends off the field and were all smiles in the snap. Martinez then posted another picture of his devices in his room while showing off a game he was playing.

Martinez has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, conceding 33 goals and keeping six clean sheets. The Argentine international has been an outstanding signing for Villa and has five years remaining on his deal in the Midlands, so he’s not going anywhere.

Martinez, who has 3.7 million followers on Instagram, always gets a positive response from supporters with his posts. He’s well-liked at Villa and seems happy in the Claret in Blue.
