Mark Warburton shares Stefan Johansen update ahead of QPR’s clash with Sheffield United

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton has revealed that Stefan Johansen will need to be assessed by the club’s medical team ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Sheffield United.

The midfielder picked up a knock in the club’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday and was substituted in the second-half of this fixture.

The R’s would have been hoping to reignite their play-off push by securing a positive result in their showdown with the Cottagers.

However, Championship leaders Fulham sealed victory at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium thanks to a brace from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The R’s will move level on points with Blackburn Rovers, who currently occupy the final play-off spot in the second-tier, if they beat the Blades at Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

However, when you consider that Paul Heckingbottom’s side have won six of their last eight home league games, QPR could potentially be in for a tough evening if they fail to deliver a response to their latest defeat.

Ahead of this game, Warburton has shared an injury update on Johansen.

Speaking to West London Sport about the midfielder, Warburton said: “Stefan limped off but we will see how he is.

“We have a few coming in this morning with bangs and bruises.

“Obviously yesterday (Sunday) was very sore for a few of them.

“It’s just that time of the season.

“The medical team are looking after them and trying to control injuries, but no player is ever 100% fit at this time of the season and we have five or six bodies out there in the medical room and they (the medical staff) are working their magic, so let’s see what happens.”
