Mark Warburton at Scotland loggerheads as Lyndon Dykes call up set to infuriate QPR boss

Steve Clarke was sent a warning by Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton just minutes before Lyndon Dykes was called up for the national side.

The Australia-born striker, a key part of Clarke's Scotland setup, has struggled for fitness in the Championship.

He's been missing for around a month with his last appearance coming against Millwall on February 15.

That led many to think a call-up wasn't on the cards but he was named in Clarke's 24-man list to play Poland and the loser of the Austria vs Wales play-off semi-final.

But he was named alongside the likes of Che Adams and Jacob Brown after Warburton, speaking before the 1.30pm announcement, insisted he shouldn't be selected.

He said: "We always want our players to go away and get international experience.

"But if he is not fit for us, he is not fit for Scotland."

The friendlies are in place of Scotland's semi-final to make World Cup 2022 against Ukraine, postponed until June to give opponents Ukraine time to recover amidst the shameful invasion by Russia.
