Mark Robins provides update on Fabio Tavares at Coventry City
Coventry City fans have been impressed with the impact of youngster Fabio Tavares so far this season and Mark Robins has admitted to Coventry Live that things have ‘moved’ for the player after his early impact with the Sky Blues.
The 21-year-old has made just two league appearances for his side so far this season but has already caught the eye of fans in the brief time he has spent on the field.
He featured for just over six minutes against Barnsley in their 1-0 win over the Tykes and after failing to feature a game later against Bristol City, he was back off the bench against Preston.
This time he had an even bigger impact, with the Sky Blues forward bagging an equaliser in the dying embers of the game to seal a point for his side.
Now, fans are eager to see more of the 21-year-old going forward and it could certainly happen now, with Mark Robins revealing that he has been kept ‘up to speed’ in terms of his fitness thanks to featuring for the club’s reserve side.
The striker has previously played for Rochdale and Curzon Ashton but has only just managed to get a game for Coventry. Now though, it looks as though he might end up featuring in the squad much more regularly too after firing in his first goal and while he might not start games yet, he certainly looks like a super sub.
Speaking to Coventry Live about his progress, Mark Robins said of the striker: “He played in the Under-23s on Tuesday and that keeps him up to speed with his match minutes. But I think with Fabio, it moves things for him.
“It moves the dial for him, not only because he scored a goal that meant we picked a point up but the quality of that goal has everyone talking, and rightly so. And he deserves that – everyone is talking about him.”
