Mark Robins gives early indication on how Coventry City’s summer transfer window will look

The club has operated on a small budget over recent years as the club looks to maintain a healthy financial position. 

The Sky Blues know first hand how difficult things can get when everything spirals financially, as can now be seen at clubs like Derby County and Reading. 

The club have done very well given their limited options in recent years and Robins has got the team fighting for a play-off place despite their disadvantage.

But it still isn’t time for the club to start splashing the cash, as Robins has claimed that it will be difficult to do business this summer as they look to operate at the same financial level as in the last few years. 

“That continues to be the aim by hook or by crook,” said Robins, via Coventry Live.

“We have to try to keep doing that. But it becomes more difficult. People talk about breaking through a glass ceiling but here it’s more concrete than glass. We have to try to do what we need to do to alleviate that and build what we need to build. That’s the challenge this year.”

Despite their lack of resources relative to their rivals, Coventry are currently 11th in the Championship table. 

With only eight games left to play this season, the Sky Blues are within six points of the play-off places.

Recent form has seen them fall behind their rivals for the top six places, as Robins’ side have only won one of their last six league games.

Following the international break, Coventry face the visit of rivals Blackburn Rovers in what will be a big game for determining the club’s fate for this season. 

The two sides will meet on April 2.
